1,000/1,000 Thanksgiving Meals Packed

This year, we’re believing God for even greater things than we’ve ever seen before. Over the last two years, nearly 500 people committed $14.2 million toward our Greater Things Vision—a bold step of faith to see 10 Only God Dreams come true in our church and our city.

Already, we’re seeing transformation in action: thousands served through our 15 for 15 initiative, more than 1,000 Thanksgiving meals delivered, and a new building at 125 S. Racine that will help us reach 5,000 people with Jesus’ love every week.

Now, as we head into 2026, we’re praying to reach $12 million—just $2 million away. Whether you’re catching up, increasing your gift, or giving for the first time, we invite you to be part of this moment.

Let’s step into even greater things together.

LAUNCH PARTY

Parties have been in our DNA from the very beginning. Pastors Jeanne and Jarrett gather a group of friends and prospective Soul City families at the Wit Hotel in downtown Chicago. For the first time the vision is shared publicly, and people are invited to join in prayer and participation in the vision of Soul City Church.

WORK & WORSHIP

The first group of Soul City volunteers come together to clear out and clean up the building in preparation for public gatherings to launch. They initiate a legacy of sacrificial serving that continues in our Soul City volunteers to this day.

LAUNCH DAY

With a Sunday night service, we open our doors to the city of Chicago. We worship together and introduce our mission of leading people into a transforming relationship with Jesus. Those gathered are invited to let God wreck their lives with His amazing love and grace.

FIRST CHRISTMAS STORE

We hold our very first Christmas Store to serve under-resourced friends and families on the west side of Chicago. Our church gathers new gifts, books, coats, and more and makes these items available at a greatly reduced price. This kicks of a meaningful partnership with Brown School that continues through the Back-to-School Bash and future Christmas Stores in years to come.

FOR THE LOVE

At our fifth anniversary, Soul City Church begins a faith raising adventure to build a transformation Center on the adjacent land. Together we pray and begin to build a space that is designed to love our community, this city, and the world.

TRANSFORMATION CENTER

Together we celebrate the completion of our new 780- seat auditorium and the beginning for the new ministry that will happen in and through this space. In our effort to be the church seven days a week, we also make these new facilities available to our community for a variety of small groups, events, recovery meetings, and more.

READY FOR MORE

The vision is shared for the next chapter of Soul City! To launch two new churches to the west and to the north. Due to the global pandemic, the vision was put on pause.

C O V I D

The Covid-19 pandemic disrupted church as usual for months, but it also provided an opportunity for creativity through daily prayer and worship on Instagram, a new type of online church service called Church Refresh, Zoom small groups, and Meals of Hope that were served to essential workers and people in need in our community.

GREATER THINGS LAUNCHES

The Greater Things campaign begins, inviting us to say YES to the greater work God wants to do in and through our lives. Together we step forward in faith, trusting Him for transformation that reaches far beyond ourselves.

A DOOR IS OPENED

As we searched for a location in the Western Suburbs—trying key after key at doors that remained closed—God opened the very door we had prayed over for 15 years, right next to us. In April 2025, we signed a Letter of Intent for 125 S Racine. With our West Loop church at capacity, this expansion moves us toward reaching 5,000 people while we continue to pray for provision for the right location in the Western Suburbs.

KEYS IN HAND

What began as a prayer became reality as Soul City purchased the building at 125 S Racine in September 2025. No longer holding a letter of intent but the keys in our hands, we celebrate God’s provision to expand our West Loop church as part of the vision to reach 5,000 people.

Primary Goal

100% Engagement

We want to see the soul, the city, and the world transformed by an Only God movement. We believe God desires to do GREATER THINGS in our church and in each of our lives. We hope and pray that every person that calls Soul City Church their home would ask God, “What is the GREATER THING you want to do in me and through me?” and they would say YES to however God leads them.

Secondary Goal

$15 Million

This is a ONE FUND initiative. That simply means we are trusting God for this amount to cover all of our expenses for the next two years. This includes our ongoing budget, capital improvements at the West Loop Church, and funding all the other initiatives in our five-year vision.

Ask, Believe, Commit.

We are inviting you to take your next step toward transformation and generosity with prayer and faith as your starting point. As you go to God in prayer, use this three-step, faith-forming process:

ASK

God, I'm asking you to speak. I am committing to listen. Put within me a vision for GREATER THINGS in my life. I am inviting you to lead me to a financial amount you would have me trust you with for the next two years. Use this step of obedience to advance my dependency on your Holy Spirit and to advance your kingdom here on earth.

God, my response today and over the next two years is a courageous and complete yes. With joy and trust, I submit to your leadership of my life and receive your provision. I commit in advance to giving you all the glory for writing a GREATER THINGS story in and through my life.

Greater Things FAQ

GREATER THINGS CAMPAIGN

Greater Things is a faith-raising initiative for Soul City Church with two goals. Our primary goal is 100% engagement. We want every person who calls Soul City home to ask the question, “God, what is the greater thing you want to do in me and through me?”. Our secondary goal is to raise $15 million, which will provide our ongoing budget at both churches for two years, launch expenses for our new church, and give seed funding to all the other initiatives in our five-year vision.

The vision of Soul City Church has always been to be one church in multiple locations. We exist to be a place where people can come for hope and healing and to have the resources to reach people beyond our walls with the transforming love of Jesus. After significant research and lots of prayer, we are compelled to continue the biblical model in the New Testament of starting new churches, extending our ministry into the community, and releasing resources throughout the city, country, and world.

Soul City’s leadership prayerfully and strategically considered this faith-raising campaign to support the launch of the new location. Fundraising experts from within and outside our church helped guide the process with Soul City leadership. We believe the vision of Greater Things will stretch and renew our faith and grow all of us to become more kingdom-minded followers of Jesus.

This powerful prayer process can be summed up in three letters – A, B, C.

Ask God to speak to you. Invite God to lead you towards a financial amount to trust God with for the next two years.  Believe that God will lead, guide, and provide you with resources to see this commitment through. Commit to giving God all the glory for writing a GREATER THINGS story in and through your life.

Greater Things is a two-year faith-raising campaign from May 2024-May 2026. You can complete a digital commitment card and start giving today. If you are attending a gathering on a Sunday, you can pick up a physical commitment card at Soul City Church from the 1st or 2nd-floor information racks.

Yes. We welcome gifts of appreciated assets and gifts-in-kind. If you would like to talk more about this, please contact us at [email protected].

Soul City Church will send out regular campaign progress that will include Greater Things giving updates.  We will also share campaign updates and developments during our Sunday gatherings. A ONE FUND initiative refers to a faith-based financial approach where a single, consolidated fund is established to cover all expenses over a two-year period. This includes the operating budget for two churches – West Loop Church and the New Church to the West – as well as start-up costs for the New Church to the West, capital improvements at West Loop Church, and seed funding for the other initiatives in our five year vision. Essentially, this strategy relies on trust in divine provision to meet these comprehensive financial needs.

NEW CHURCH TO THE WEST

We plan to launch in the next year. Once we find the right facility, our timeline will be clarified.

Not yet! We have built a dynamic real estate team made up of real estate professionals who are a part of Soul City Church and outside experts to identify potential locations.  Our plan is to lease or purchase a space that would give us the ability to do ministry seven days a week, but we are always open to God surprising us with something beyond our best plans. If you have suggestions for potential locations, please email us at [email protected].

The exact location for the new church has not yet been identified, but we are looking between Oakbrook and Oak Park. The new church to the west will serve the neighborhoods in the western suburbs of Chicago.

the oaks map

Yes, the new church will have live worship, led by a local Soul City Worship team, and live teaching by our Lead Pastors and teaching team, including the local pastor. In some instances, video teaching will be utilized. Each church will follow the same teaching plan each week, but it will be delivered by different members of our teaching team. This allows the teaching to be unique to the location.

We know that the new church’s local pastor will be someone currently on the Soul City staff team.

Soul City will operate with a centralized leadership model that consists of the founding lead pastors, directional team, and a local pastor for the new church that will oversee the vision and strategy of the church.  A portion of the staff will represent “shared services” and support both churches in areas such as operations, accounting and human resources. Soul City will continue to be governed by one common elder board with representation from each of the two churches.

Each church will have the responsibility of contextually living out Soul City’s mission and vision through worship, teaching, table groups and ministries such as Soul City Kids and Alpha. These are the parts of our Church that are core to our mission and have fueled our growth over the last 13 years.

Soul City’s mission, vision, values, transformational teaching, worship, and look and feel will be consistent throughout both churches. There will be differences as each of these churches continue to grow and develop. The common Elder Board, centralized leadership and oversight from our founding lead pastors and directional team will also ensure that the new church are launched and growing, that it is 100% “Soul City” while also being uniquely contextualized to its local community.

Hey Soul City!

A quick message for those joining us in person this weekend:

Recently, the CDC shared new guidelines for wearing face masks in public and in indoor settings to promote safety in areas with substantial risks of transmission. Therefore, we are requiring that masks are worn while in the building on Sundays.

We are continuously reviewing the CDC guidelines and what our next steps will be – as your safety remains our priority.
